As a recognized leader in emergency response management and training, Gallagher Marine Systems (GMS) excels in developing and delivering practical courses that prepare students for best response practices. GMS has utilized the Incident Command System (ICS) for nearly twenty years to manage our organization’s emergency responses. Our ICS instructors have responded to hundreds of incidents and served in all ICS positions and levels for public and private sector organizations. This vast experience brings life to our training sessions. GMS’s courses are developed and delivered by NIMS-certified (National Incident Management System) instructors, the highest standard established.

The Incident Command System (ICS) is a field-proven, standardized, yet flexible, approach for safely managing incidents or events of any type, size, or complexity, such as oil spills, fires, ship groundings, natural disasters, and public celebrations. ICS enables a coordinated response among multiple jurisdictions and functional agencies or organizations, both public and private, using common processes and an organizational structure for planning and managing resources, and allowing for the integration of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications

U.S. Homeland Security Presidential Directive 5 (HSPD5) mandated all U.S. federal, state, and local agencies to use the National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS in managing incidents. Therefore, any individual or organization within the private and public sectors that may be involved in emergency incidents or events should become competent in ICS.
